Snowflake Door Decoration

During the holiday season, we see door upon door decorated with the standard Christmas wreath... but this Christmas season, why not mix it up? This snowflake -- which is easy to assemble (and cost under five dollars to make) is a great alternative to the standard holiday tradition! Have fun mixing it up and trying new designs or colors on your very own, handmade door decoration!

What you'll need:

1  | package of Popsicle sticks
1  | hot glue gun
10| hot glue sticks (the more the better!)
1  | strand of fishing line (to hang from top of door)

Optional: spray paint and glitter for color and dazzle!

Directions:

1. Assemble a snowflake large enough to cover your door with Popsicle sticks already painted and glittered.
2. Hot glue all pieces together by the points to form a solid, sturdy snowflake.
3. Wrap the fishing line between two of the points on the snowflake and string it from the top of your front door.

Enjoy!

Melted Crayon Art

Everyone has that container of old crayons lying around the house somewhere. Why don't you put them to good use? Instead of coloring in between the lines, why not try something wild and out there!? Take your old used and worn down crayons and hot glue them to either canvas, poster board or foam core and create a melted crayon masterpiece!
Not only is this a great activity to do with kids or friends, but each piece is unique and different every time you make it. Instead of buying a piece of abstract art, save yourself 300 dollars and make your own!

What you'll need:

1 |    piece of poster board
1 |    64-box of crayons (or however many you'd like!)
     1 |    hot glue gun
10+|    hot glue sticks (too many is better than running out!)
     1 |    blow dryer

Directions:

1. Take each crayon, and unwrap them OR place all crayons in a bowl of water to save time and energy unwrapping individual crayons!
2. Arrange your crayons in desired pattern (*remember that colors that are similar blend together when melted*)
3. Center the crayons and individually melt them to your poster board.
4. Turn your hair dryer on high-heat and melt away! Watch out for hot wax!
5. Display in a shadow box or hang on a wall for everyone to see!

Enjoy!

Winter Candles

Having a party? Need some decorations around the house to bring in the Christmahanakwanzikauh cheer? Try this idea! Use everyday table salt as fake snow in any glass container you can find! Purchase some inexpensive tea lights (or expensive ones if you prefer) and drop them in to light up your array of gorgeous pieces!
Try different variations: use staggered sized containers and create a centerpiece on a dining table for a party or line them up along a counter to create a winter-y line of holiday cheer!

What you'll need:

       3 |   Glass Jars/Containers
       1 |   26oz Container of Salt
       3 |   Tea Lights

Directions:

1. Take each jar and fill it with 8oz (or as much as you choose) of salt.
2. Drop a tea light in each jar and bury it in salt -- just enough so you can still see it.
3. Keep lid off and place anywhere around the house or outside!

Enjoy!
